A: We will send you the username and password within 24 hrs.
Q: Can I get a dialup account with you?
A: Yes. For more information, please see our dialup service.
Q: Can I try out an account for a while before I decide to buy?
A: No, we do not offer trial accounts.
Q: Where do I check my DSL bandwidth usage?
A: You can check your DSL bandwidth usage using the DSL console.
Q: When will my prepaid bandwidth expire?
A: Prepaid bandwidth does not have an expiry date.
Q: How many lines can I enable DSL Secure on?
A: You can enable DSL secure on up to four lines per account.
Q: Do you provide email accounts with your SAIX accounts?
A: Yes we do, we provide up to 5 email accounts.
Q: Does Web Africa provide SMS notifications and is it a free service?
A: Yes, Web Africa provides usage notifications via SMS. It's included free as part of our DSL service.
Q: Can I install DSL on a prepaid line?
A: Unfortunately, you will need a POTS line (Plain old telephone services) with a monthly account.
Q: What is the estimated waiting time for a DSL line installation?
A: Its normally between 4 to 6 weeks, however the time frame is totally dependent upon Telkom.
Q: How long does it take to transfer a line from Telkom to Web Africa?
A: It usually takes between 1 and 2 weeks, however the time frame is totally dependent upon Telkom.
Q: How can I verify my DSL line?
A: Before you verify your DSL line please make sure your router is connected and that there is sync on the line. You can verify your line using the following link: http://www.telkom.co.za/verifyadsl/
Q: How do I know if my area supports ADSL (exchange ready)?
A: You can check this on the following link: https://secure1.telkom.co.za/app/dslavailability/
Q: How many FTP accounts can I have on one account?
A: It varies, depending on the package size. For details, check the web hosting page.
Q: Do you offer PHP hosting?
A: Yes, we offer support for PHP 4 & 5.
Q: How do I set up my email accounts?

Q: I cannot connect to the database?
A: Please consult our KnowlegeBase.
Q: Do you support ColdFusion?
A: Yes.
Q: How do I set write permissions on a folder?
A: For windows web hosting it may be done globally using the control panel under "Website Settings". Linux web hosting permissions may be set via FTP of the control panel.
Q: Do I put ASP, and Cold Fusion pages in my cgi-bin?
A: No, ASP, and Cold Fusion pages never belong in the cgi-bin. Place iHTML, ASP, and Cold Fusion pages in normal document directories. Only CGI programs such as those ending in .PL (perl scripts) or native Win32 .EXE programs belong in the cgi-bin directory.
Q: Do you offer MS-SQL support?
A: Yes, We offer MS-SQL Server 2000/2005 database support.
Q: Do you offer ASP.NET scripting support?
A: Yes.
Q: Can I set it up so that subdomain.mydomain.com would map to a different subdirectory?
A: You can map subdomain.domain.com and somethingelse.com to other subdirectories within your account. For setting up sub domains, send a ticket to support@webafrica.co.za or call us on 0861555222 with your requirements.
Q: Can I order unlimited storage space?
A: No, but you can order additional space if you need it. Check our web hosting pricing page for details.
Q: Do I pay for a domain to be transferred to Webafrica?
A: Only co.za transfers are free. All other transfers are charged for.
Q: How long does it take for a domain to be transferred?
A: All domains are different:
- co.za: 24 hours
- org.za: 24-72 hours
- .com, .org, .net etc: 5-7 days
- .za, .net: up to 1 month
Q: How do I transfer a domain away from Webafrica?
A: A support ticket needs to be issued by the client requesting the release of a domain.
Q: I've made a spelling mistake on my domain registration, can I change it?
A: NO, domain names cannot be changed once they have been registered, but If it is a co.za domain that hasn't been paid for yet at UNIFORUM, then yes, it can be cancelled. If it is a .com domain that was registered less than 3 days ago it can be cancelled.
Q: My .com domain is registered, but nothing is working.
A: Possibly, the nameservers haven't been setup with the registrar yet. Please contact support or, if you know what the nameservers should be, you can update the domain from your Client Services area.

Q: Can I set this up so www.mydomain.com and mydomain.com both map to the same place?
A: By default www.domain.com and domain.com always map to the same place.
Q: Do you support international domains?
A: We are able to host most international domains.
Q: Do I need to install any special software?
A: No, you will access the service using your existing email client.
Q: Can I send faxes internationally?
A: Yes you can, however you will be billed international rates.
Q: Can I send attachments?
A: Yes you can, they need to be sent in the following formats: TIF, PDF, PS, WORD, Excel.
Q: In what format will I receive my faxes?
A: You will receive them in TIF format.
Q: Is my fax number ever busy?
A: No, its never busy.
