Why do I receive "Message delivery has been delayed"
|
Problem/Summary Every now and then I receive an email such as: MailEnable: Message delivery has been delayed. Message is waiting at wadns.net for delivery to mailmarshal5.standardbank.co.za. Reason: Could not deliver this message to the remote host standardbank.co.za because the connection either failed or was refused. MailEnable will keep trying to deliver this message and will notify you of any progress. Message headers follow: Cause This means that the mail server, in the above example (mailmarshal5.standardbank.co.za), of the person you are trying to send a mail to, is having connectivity or other problems. Resolution This is normal behaviour. Mail servers go down, ISP"s have routing problems etc. This is letting you know the person you sending mail to has a problem with their mail server. If you do not wish to receive these messages you can ask your your IT admin to setup a rule in your email client to block them or move them to trash. The majority of users however, prefer to know if there has been a problem so that they may take alternate measures to contact the recipient. Please do not contact support if you receive this message. The exception to this would be if you receive this on every message you send, this would indicate Web Africa is having problems. |
