Adding a proxy to your web browser

Please scroll down to the appropriate web browser. Proxy Settings for Mozilla Firefox using FoxyProxy First, install Foxy Proxy (if already installed, skip this step) 1.a. Browse to the Firefox Addons page and click "Install Now" button; 1.b. Click "Accept and Install". We recommend that you read the GPL license. This is the license FoxyProxy uses to ensure that the FoxyProxy extension remains free; 1.c. Follow the prompts and restart Firefox if necessary; 2. Once available, click on the FoxyProxy icon in the bottom right corner or click "Tools" \ "FoxyProxy" \ "Options"; 3. Click the "Proxies" tab and then click "Add New Proxy"; 4. On the General tab, at least give the proxy a name; 5. On the Proxy Details tab, select "Manual Proxy Configuration" and then enter the proxy server host name and port number in the appropriate fields; 6.a. If you only want to use this proxy for specific sites, click on the "Patterns" tab; 6.b. Click "Add New Pattern"; 6.c. Enter the Pattern Name - for example, for our forums, you can call it "Web Africa Forums" 6.d. Enter the URL name that you would like. Wildcards and Regular Expressions are acceptable. eg., *forums.webafrica.co.za/* 6.e. Choose to Whitelist or Blacklist the URL pattern and also specify if the pattern uses Wildcards or Regular Expressions (Choose Wildcards if you aren"t specifically using a Regular Expression) 6.f. Click "OK" and then "OK" 7. To change between proxy servers, right-click on the FoxyProxy icon in the bottom left-hand corner and pick the proxy setup you want to use. You can alternatively click "Tools" \ "FoxyProxy" and then choose there as well Proxy Settings in Internet Explorer 6.X 1. Click "Service" \ "Internet Options"; 2. Click "Connections"; 3. If you use Dial-Up connection, choose your connection and click "Settings" button. if you use LAN connection, click "LAN Settings" button in the "Local Area Network (LAN) Settings" group box; 4. Enable "use a proxy server"; 5. In fields "Address" and "port", type proxy name and proxy port number; 6. If nessesary, enable "bypass proxy server for local addresses"; 7. Click "OK"; 8. Click "OK" to close IE settings. Proxy Settings in Internet Explorer 5.X 1. Click "Service" \ "Internet Options"; 2. Click "Connections"; 3. Click "Setting" \ "Configure Konqueror..."; 2. Choose "Proxies"; 3. Enable "Use proxy"; 4. Set proxies for following protocols: HTTP, FTP, etc. Proxy Settings in Mozilla 1. Set "Manual proxy configuration"; 4. Click "View" at "Manual proxy configuration"; 5. Set proxies for following protocols: HTTP, FTP, etc. Proxy Settings in Netscape Navigator 4.X 1. Click "Edit" \ "Preferences"; 2. Click "Category" \ "Advanced" \ "Proxies"; 3. Set "Manual proxy configuration"; 4. Click "View" at "Manual proxy configuration"; 5. Set proxies for following protocols: HTTP, FTP, etc. Known popular proxy servers dsl-cache.saix.net - port 8080. For sites where you have problems with SAIX"s transparent proxy. |
